It’s the first time Google has delivered, directly inside Search Console, a view of how often your content shows up cited inside an AI-generated answer, rather than only in the classic list of blue links.

For a B2B SME, this answers a question that was almost impossible to answer with first-party data until now: is Google’s AI citing me or not? Before, you had to infer it from a drop in clicks or rely on external third-party tools. Now Search Console shows it directly, though still with limitations worth knowing before drawing quick conclusions.

How to turn on and read the AI Overviews report

The report appears inside the Search Console Performance module as a new search type filter. Once you turn it on, you can segment impressions by page, country, device, and date, the same way you already do with traditional search. The rollout is gradual by country: if you don’t see it yet on your Chile or Brazil property, check again in the coming weeks, since Google is enabling it in waves.

What data it shows (and what’s still missing)

For now the report only delivers impressions: how many times one of your pages shows up as a source inside an AI answer. It doesn’t include clicks or CTR, which is exactly the number a marketing team most needs to calculate return. Google has said that data will arrive later, but today the report mainly works as a visibility diagnostic, not a way to measure direct conversion.

Search Console also removed several legacy reports (Mobile Usability, AMP, HTML Improvements, URL Parameters) to make room for this new AI layer, and added brand/non-brand segmentation, chart annotations, and natural-language configuration. It’s worth exploring the whole module, not just the AI filter.

Why this matters for a B2B SME in Chile and Brazil

We already knew, from the Similarweb study on ChatGPT, that being cited by generative AI multiplies the traffic a site receives. The AI Overviews report in Search Console is Google’s side of that same coin: it tells you whether your content is making it into that answer layer before the user ever clicks a result. For an SME competing with bigger-budget companies, being cited inside the AI answer is often the only way to be present while the buyer is researching their next purchase.

The risk of not checking it is going blind to a traffic drop that traditional rankings don’t explain: your position in the classic listing can stay stable while real impressions migrate to AI answers where you’re not cited at all.

How to use this data to win more traffic

With the report turned on, here’s what’s worth reviewing this week:

Compare AI impressions vs. traditional search impressions per page: identify which content is already being cited and which isn’t, so you can replicate the format that works.

Check which pages get AI impressions but zero clicks in the overall report: those are candidates for a better title and meta description, since they already have visibility but aren’t earning the click.

Cross-check the country filter: if your AI traffic in Brazil is much lower than in Chile (or vice versa), it may signal that the report or AI Overviews rollout doesn’t yet cover that region evenly.

Save a monthly snapshot as a baseline: since the report is new, there’s no prior history; starting to log the numbers now gives you a reference to measure growth in coming quarters.

Connecting this to your GEO strategy

If you’re already working on generative engine optimization (GEO), this report is the most direct way to measure whether those adjustments — Q&A structure, concrete data, quotable short paragraphs — are working specifically inside Google’s ecosystem. It doesn’t replace GEO work, but it finally gives you a first-party number to know if you’re on the right track.

One more thing to check: is your content even crawlable by AI bots?

Optimizing your content so AI cites it is pointless if your own server or CDN is blocking their access. If you use Cloudflare or another provider with automatic bot protection, check that you’re not unknowingly blocking AI crawlers before expecting results in this new report.

Next steps this week

Log into Search Console, check whether the generative AI filter is already available on your property, and if it is, export the first data snapshot as a reference. If it’s not showing up yet, schedule another check in two weeks: the rollout is progressive and it’s likely already on its way to your country. Either way, the underlying message is the same one we keep repeating at Boostify: visibility is no longer measured only in clicks, but also in how often your brand shows up inside the answer before the click ever happens.

Since June 2026, Google Search Console has included a dedicated generative AI report that separates the impressions your site gets inside AI Overviews, AI…

[64,163,167
192,190,166,218,191
post-1537","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-en","category-ia-aplicada","category-marketing-digital-b2b","tag-ai-overviews","tag-geo","tag-pymes-b2b","tag-search-console","tag-seo-con-ia
["GET
